Abstract

Miguel de Cervantes’s Don Quixoteis widely considered the first modern novel in the history of Literature. Different opinions on that topic are discussed here. Using categories from narratology and theory of the novel (Lukcas and Bajtinin particular), new arguments are provided in favor of the modernity of Cervantes’s masterwork
