Abstract

One of the many pretensions that philosophers have is to believe themselves to be the most capable or "enlightened" thinkers and legislators that a society has or should have; a pretension that was initiated by Pythagoras, continued and developed by Plato and that has remained in force throughout the centuries as clearly expressed by philosophers such as Kant. Hegel and other contemporaries of ours.
