The first female name recorded in the History of Peruvian Art is that of Juana Valera, from Lima, who painted still lifes during the 17th century. Likewise, when artists offer their services to give private classes, particularly those referring to the first half of the century, the advertisements are generally directed at the ladies, indicating that they can come to their private homes.
