The Peruvian literary canon
Abstract
Canon is a key concept in literary history. In this article, we review the historic evolution of the peruvian literary canon. In the peruvien case, it is only with the so called Aristocratic Republic, in the first decades of the twentieth century, that is possible to speak of the formation of a peru-vien national canon. The author names this first version of the peruvien literary canon the oligarchic canon, and emphasizes the importance of the works of Riva Agüero and Ventura García Calderón in its formation. Later, beginning in the twenties and definitively in the fifties, a new lite-rary canon emerges, that calls the post-oligarchic canon.Downloads
