The first Inter-American demographic congress
Abstract
Last October, the First Inter-American Demographic Congress was held in Mexico City, where very important sociological problems related to post-war migratory movements were discussed. Sociologists and experts in statistics made up most of the delegations from the twenty-one American countries represented at the event. Dr. Roberto Mac-Lean y Estenós, Senior Professor of Sociology in our Faculty, attended the Congress, chairing the Peruvian Delegation; and upon his return to the country, in several articles specially written for "El Comercio" in Lima, he analysed the significance and importance of this important international event in which the post-war Inter-American demographic policy was defined. "LETRAS (Lima)" reproduces that study which constitutes, in fact, the contribution of our Faculty in the research of continental demography.Downloads
